Sharing the simple pleasures of summer and Oregon's bounty is one way to strengthen community and enhance our sense of connection. So Living Earth is hosting a "berry bandhara," a celebration of abundance featuring Oregon's summer berries and delicious ice cream.

Children of all ages are invited for free ice cream and berries of every description, along with homemade pies, cobblers, shortcakes, and crisps. The event takes place Sunday, July 20, 1-3 pm at Irving Park, NE 7th/Fremont, near the tennis courts and playground.

Bandharas are a tradition in northern India, where feasts are prepared and shared with the entire community. In that spirit, we're offering ice cream, berries, and home made berry desserts to all who come to the park that day.

The agenda is uncomplicated – food and friendship. The event is free to all, organized by Living Earth and co-hosted by Oregon Action, AFSC, and PDX Peace. No speakers or politics, just a chance to enjoy the spirit of friendship and community, and served up with delicious treats to all who come by.

Volunteers needed! We'll need help scooping ice cream in the park, and if you can bake a pie or crisp, or have a friend who can, please let us know! Donation of baked goods, and ice, and any of a list of things, will be needed. Contact Living Earth at 503-788-7311 or info@LivingEarthGatherings.org if you'd like to help.
