Living Earth Circles
Integrating contemplative practice and social action
In a world facing unprecedented crises and change, transforming our own understanding of what it means to be human, of human purpose and potential, is central to our ability to positively influence conditions around us. Living Earth Circles provide a vehicle for integrating contemplative inquiry and reflection with skillful, effective social action on local and global issues.
Contemporary culture, based on archaic ideas of separation, duality, and power, doesn't provide the models and tools we need to meet the challenges of our time. Despite the best efforts and intentions of so many, we seem to be heading faster and faster toward a dangerous brink. To create a path toward a just, peaceful, and sustainable future for all our children, we need to challenge those archaic concepts and engage in work that supports an emergent new understanding.
Alienation and disconnection are at the heart of the critical problems of our time. Transforming how we approach these complex issues requires a deep shift in our perceptions, in how we define who we are, and the purpose of human participation in the world. By consciously integrating practical nuts-and-bolts experience with the deep wisdom of the world's enduring spiritual traditions, and also scientific knowledge and the emerging new cosmology, we can transform how we participate in personal, political, and cultural affairs.
The worldview of alienation and separation that has brought us to this critical point in history is rooted in ideas and philosophies that no longer serve us. Fortunately, those concepts and ideologies are not "Truth" written in stone, but just ideas, points in an ever-unfolding flow of understanding. We don't have to be stuck here, to let that conceptual model bring us to literal destruction. Outdated concepts and mind-created thought forms can change. We can change.
Living Earth Circles are designed to support the conditions for that change.
