Living Earth Circle Program Elements
Integrating contemplative practice and social action
A Living Earth presentation juxtaposes the urgent crises threatening the world with the subtle terrain of the human heart. It offers community groups, activist organizations, and faith congregations a model for community-centered engagement, supporting contemplative reflection and creative, compassionate action to bring peace, justice, beauty, and balance into our world.
Living Earth Circles begin with a one-day workshop. Experiential processes, interactive exercises, and thoughtful dialogue combine with inner exploration and deep reflection on our love of the world and the potential of human life. The workshop provides tools by which participants can develop continuing community-based Circles for contemplative reflection and compassionate action.
The Circle workshop provides a beginning framework for participating community members to continue exploring their own personal way of being in the world. Whether our primary ways of engaging are as family and community members, engaged citizens, or issue activists, the community Circle is a space where our perspectives and approaches to all our actions can unfold, evolve, and transform.
The Circles are supported by electronic and other resources that Living Earth is developing with input from members and participants.
The Living Earth Circle workshop can be offered in any community, through faith congregations, activist organizations, or community groups. Local or regional Circles emerge from each workshop to support participants in continuing contemplative exploration and creative, compassionate action in the world.
