Next First FridayPete Seeger Sing-along Birthday Potluck
We're planning a First Friday Community Potluck Friday, May 2, from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Friends Meeting House, 4312 SE Stark, in honor of Pete Seeger's 89th Birthday the following day. Bring a vegetarian potluck dish and help us celebrate peace, justice, beauty, and community with Pete's incomparable music. We'll share a great dinner, catch up with old friends, and have a sing-along celebration. Feel free to bring your banjo, guitar, kazoo, harmonica, fiddle, mandolin, or a rusty, wobbly, or melodious voice, and join us! Pete Seeger's music has expressed the heart and soul of American folks for more than 60 years, eloquently, playfully, unflinchingly, and poignantly. He has been an inspiration, a mentor, and a voice for millions who share a vision of justice — economic, social, racial, and political — and who work for peace, equality, and environmental defense. For five and a half years Living Earth held monthly First Friday Community Potlucks. We changed gears in October 2007 so our potlucks are more occasional but will still gather folks now and then to share a meal, explore their thoughts, and exchange perspectives on what's going on in the world. First Fridays are open to all. Bring a vegetarian or vegan potluck dish to share and join the conversation. Suggested donations of $5-$10 are appreciated to help pay the rent. Note: We're already planning a Post-election First Friday, November 7. No matter the election outcome, we'll share a great meal and deal with our post-election responses in community again. |
